The event was the opening reception of an exhibition about alternatives to drug crop production in the entry hall of DIE. It had been conceptualised by the sector project "Sustainable Rural Areas" of GIZ. Using telling fotos, graphics and texts, knowedge was provided about the realities of smallholder farmers in important drug production regions and compared to common prejudices. Without alternative income sources for most of them there is no escape out of that dangerous business. During the opening reception small quizzes and games, samples of alternative products and further background information were provided.
