Research Assistant (f/m/diverse)

 

Would you like to acquire foundational knowledge of German and international development cooperation and support our ongoing research on the development effectiveness of development bureaucracies while remaining flexible? Then please consider applying! Our project analyses the interactions between knowledge, learning, behavioural change and aid effectiveness in Germany, Norway and South Korea. The research’s dual purpose is, first, to contribute to practice-oriented scholarly debates on the role of knowledge management and learning in development cooperation, and second, to draw actionable lessons for development cooperation in Germany and beyond. The research assistant’s main tasks will comprise interview data coding and systematic analysis as well as the analysis of online survey data. You will get in-depth insights into the politics of German and international development cooperation while honing your analytical skills.  

 

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Current Master’s student in sociology, psychology, human geography, public policy, political science or another social science
  • Employment of advanced BA candidates as student assistants possible in exceptional circumstances
  • Interest in development cooperation, ideally documented through university-level courses and extracurricular activities
  • Experience with qualitative research methods
  • Experience with ATLAS.ti, NVivo, MAXQDA or similar software packages is an advantage
  • Native or very good language skills in both German and English (both languages are required)
  • Commitment to being present at IDOS in Bonn on two days per week
  • Student status until at least the end of 2023

 

We offer:

  • Payment of 13.00 € gross/hour, with up to 72 hours per month (number of hours per month is negotiable, BA students hourly rate is 12.00 € gross)
