Researcher (f/m/diverse) - Position No. 2024-A02-01

Part time 75% up to 29,25 hours/week,

German public sector tariff, up to EG14 TVöD Bund according to qualifications

40.000  – 62.000 Euro gross (75%)

 

The  position may be filled as of 01 July 2024 and is limited until 31.12.2026 with a possible option of contract extension.

 

The postion is with Shaping Futures - African-European Network on Development and Sustainability, hosted by IDOS as an international, English-language training and dialogue programme. The researcher in the IDOS team shall develop joint dialogue and knowledge cooperation with alumni and partner institutions in participating countries.

 

The researcher is responsible for further buidling and developing the Shaping Futures Network as a contribution to the programme , namely:

  • Developing and implementing an attractive, co-created knowledge cooperation concept with young professionals from African countries.
  • Publishing original academic contributions in at least one dimension of sustainability (economic, ecologial, social, political) within the context of African-European cooperation.
  • Actively engaging with partners and alumni in the programme, aiming at organising/hosting joint events and delivering joint policy-relevant knowledge products,
  • Networking with similar programmes of transdisciplinary and international orientation.
  • Preparation of follow-up and third-party funding applications.

 

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Phd (completed or close to completion) in the following area: political science, social science, economics or related disciplines,
  • In-depth knowledge of a topic area within sustainability and cooperation policy as described in the Agenda 2063 and Agenda 2030;
  • Experience with and in African countries, ideally in establishing and nurturing joint research with partners from African countries; knowledge of didactics for international peer learning and dialogue processes is particularly desirable,
  • Excellent skills in managing international projects; acquisition of third-party funding is an asset,
  • Commitment to joint learning and dedication to working in a professionally and culturally diverse team;
  • willingness to work in an interdisciplinary, globally dispersed team;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, preferably with good command of German; good knowledge of French is an asset,
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders;
  • Experiences in using digital platforms and tools to facilitate networking activities and exchange of knowledge is desired
  • willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including countries with a tropical climate („Tropentauglichkeit“).

  • Flexible working hours with a weekly working time of 75% up to 29,25 hours/week
