The contents of the training are based on the professional profiles of national and international development organizations and are continuously updated. The teachers maintain close contacts to development practice: Researchers of the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) and experts from Ministries, specialists from implementing organizations, international organizations, companies and non-governmental organizations.
The following development topics will be addressed in the context of the plenary sessions:
Development theories and processes
Global economic conditions and national economic policies
Sectoral approaches of development cooperation (industrial, economical, rural and social development)
Fundamental principles, institutions and instruments of development cooperation
Critical perspective on development policy and the role of consulting
Planning, performance and evaluation of projects and programmes
Simulation game: Governmental negotiations
These sessions will be complemented by methodological workshops and trainings in interdisciplinary competences:
Presentation, rhetoric and moderation
Professional Writing (in English)
Teambuilding
Conflict Management in a team
Security training
Techniques in data collection and evaluation for the Research Groups
Furthermore, there will be a tutorial about “basic knowledge of economics”.
The seminars are interactive and varied: lectures alternate with discussions, group presentations, practical exercises and simulation games. There are also several modules where the participants of the Postgraduate Programme have discussions together with the current participants of the MGG Academy. This brings up the opportunity for dialogue and global learning.
