Job announcement: Student assistant (m/f/diverse) Klimalog Project

The German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) is one of the leading research institutions and think tanks for global sustainable development. It contributes, through research, policy advice and training, to finding answers to global questions affecting our future.


The IDOS Research Programme “Environmental Governance and Transformation to Sustainability” is looking for a student assistant in the Klimalog project to start as soon as possible for ideally one year. In its current phase (2023-2025), the project funded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) focuses on analyzing multilevel climate governance and policies of international cooperation that strive towards a climate-resilient and ecologically sensitive just transformation.


The assistant shall ideally contribute to the following activities:

  • (Systematic) literature review
  • Data coding (qualitative research)
  • Analysing quantitative data in STATA or R (household/online survey and other data on poverty & inequality)
  • Support other project activities, e.g. hybrid event organization

 

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in progress, preferably on subjects related to the project (e.g. political science, development studies, human geography, social science, climate change adaptation/disaster risk reduction)
  • Experience in using statistical software and/or qualitative research (coding data)
  • Good command of MS Excel, Word, Power Point and willingness to learn new software (e.g. Atlas.ti)
  • Fluency in English; German and French language skills are an asset

This job offer is exclusively for enrolled students. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a master’s programme at a German University. Candidates who already have a master’s degree are unfortunately not eligible for formal reasons, even if they are enrolled in another master’s programme.
