From COP17 to COP31: Learnings from the Biodiversity Global Review for the Climate Global Stocktake and Vice Versa
Event Type

Location / Date
Yerevan, Armenia, 26.10.2026
IDOS and IDDRI
As the Convention on Biological Diversity concludes its first Global Review at COP17, the UNFCCC is starting the information and data collection phase of its second Global Stocktake (GST-2) at COP31. Both processes assess collective progress toward global goals, yet have developed largely in parallel. This session brought together researchers and practitioners from across the conventions to exchange early lessons between the two review cycles: how inclusive both processes have been, how technical findings were translated into political outcomes, how equity and means of implementation were addressed, and what each process can learn from the other.
