Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the version of the website www.idos-research.de currently available on the internet. It is based on the test results of the most recent audit dated 23 July 2024 under the Accessibility in Information Technology Ordinance (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung – BITV) conducted by Materna Information & Communications SE, an official accessible information and communication auditing body in the relevant association. e audit was conducted as accessible information and communication test under the BITV in accordance with EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1. It covered the WCAG 2.1 criteria for Levels A and AA.

Degree of compliance with accessibility requirements

The German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) endeavours to make its website accessible in line with the provisions enacted to transpose EU Directive 2016/2102 into national law and the provisions of Germany’s Accessibility Reinforcement Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – BFSG). The BFSG transposes the European Accessibility Act (EAA) into German law and from 28 June 2025 onwards also obliges providers of digital services to implement accessibility in line with the EN 301 549 standard.

According to the audit, the website www.idos-research.de already met the criteria in many cases. Following the audit, IDOS took further editorial and programming measures to address remaining shortcomings. The website is largely accessible, but still has a small number of barriers, which IDOS is taking active steps to address.

Known barriers

We are aware of the following remaining barriers:

  • Some PDF documents do not meet the requirements made of accessible documents.
  • Some of the videos on the website do not have subtitles or audio descriptions.
  • Not all content is available in easy read versions and German sign language.
  • Some content is only available in either German or English and not in both languages.
  • Some content does not have sufficient colour contrast and is hence difficult to read for people with impaired vision.
  • Some embedded content originates from our external service provider Sendinblue/Brevo (e.g. newsletter forms), which does not currently offer an accessible solution. We are actively looking for accessible formats.

We are continually striving to eliminate these barriers and to make further improvements to our website in terms of its accessibility.

This statement was produced on 27 June 2025.
