Hereby they discuss problems of global relevancy and search for possible solutions. However, not only the German Development Institute fosters the global exchange of knowledge, at the Instituto Mora – a long-term partner of the MGG – this year the common experience of learning was taken up and deepened.

The alumni meeting took place at 2 March between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm at the Instituto Mora under the title “Global Governance and post-2015 development agenda challenges in Mexico“. After the opening of the event by representatives of the Instituto Mora, the german embassy and a representative of the MGG-programme the participants discussed relevant questions of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Mexico. Main aspects were the implementation of the SDGs in Mexico, their political, economic and social implications, the aspect of sustainability and the complex of international cooperation. The discussants came amongst others from the Mexican ministry of foreign affairs as well as from relevant think tanks which work on the topic.

The meeting was one of a series of events that will take part this year in the partner countries of MGG (Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, India, China and Indonesia) and is designed to deepen the relations with partner institutions and alumni.

The MGG Academy, conducted for the 14th consecutive time this year, is aimed at highly qualified young professionals from rising powers. It comprises among other elements the two-month Global Governance School (GGS) at the DIE, training units for soft skills development as well as a two-week seminar at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
