What can we learn about the future of democracy in Africa when urbanisation, demographic change and digitalisation are analysed not in isolation, but in their interlinkages and mutual influence? Lena Gutheil, co-author of the Megatrends Africa Working Paper, presents key findings from the research team’s analysis of how these three transformations interact. Dr. Katharina Lobeck from GIZ’s “Strengthening resilient information ecosystems in West Africa” project reflects on the findings from practice and discusses what they may mean for future project implementation in the region, particularly in urban contexts.
