COP23
COP23
From 6 to 17 November, the 2017 Climate Change Conference (COP 23) took place in Germany under the Fiji Presidency. DIE has been conducting research on key issues in the field of climate change, UN climate negotiations and their implications for international cooperation for many years. During COP23, DIE was involved in many of the formats held during the negotations. Within our project “Klimalog – Research and Dialogue for a climate-smart and just transformation”, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), DIE organised several side events in the visiting area of the COP23 (Bonn Zone).
Interconnections Zone provides dialogue offers for 1700 guests
DIE was also the venue for the “Interconnections Zone”. With more than 40 events and a thematic focus on the Paris Agreement and the Agenda 2030, DIE provided a base for transdisciplinary discussions between 6 and 17 November 2017. During the two weeks DIE welcomed 1700 guests from over 40 countries. For a complete review of the events during the Interconnections Zone and the numerous side events in the Bonn Zone visit our Storify of Week 1 and Week 2 of COP23.
DIE brings stakeholders together: #CrossroadsBonn and #DCDays17
Further, DIE was one of the co-organisers of the Development & Climate Days, held on 11 and 12 November at the Kameha Grand Hotel in Bonn. On 4 to 5 November, DIE organised the international „Climate Action and Human Wellbeing at a Crossroads: Historical Transformation or Backlash?” calling for accelerated action to jointly implement the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement. The results discussed during the conference were outlined in a Memorandum which outlines cornerstones of a climate-just future leaving no one behind. Read more on the conference in our Storify and more impressions in our Flickr Album.
