Rising powers of the South and other middle-income countries are rapidly expanding their support to fellow developing countries. Some of these states, which do not like to be called “new donors”, established specialized agencies for South-South cooperation quite a while ago (e.g. Brazil). Others, like Mexico, India and South Africa, are just now beginning to lay such institutional foundations. 

A group of researchers from the “Managing Global Governance” programme has begun work on a joint publication focusing on “development agencies in emerging powers”. They discussed the current state of their research at the workshop in Mexico.
