The 64th sessions of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) will take place from 8 to 18 June 2026 at the World Conference Center Bonn, Germany. As the principal mid-year milestone in the international climate calendar, SB 64 carries particular weight: with COP31 set to convene in Antalya, Türkiye later in the year under a joint Turkish–Australian presidency, the Bonn sessions are the last major technical checkpoint before countries must demonstrate that the ambitions of the Paris Agreement can be translated into concrete implementation.
Key areas of work include the operationalisation of the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) on climate finance agreed in Baku, the further development of indicators under the UAE–Belém work programme on the Global Goal on Adaptation, and progress on the Just Transition Work Programme. The synthesis of the new round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs 3.0) is expected to loom large with the emissions gap and finance delivery under sustained scrutiny next to dialogues on trade and climate.
IDOS and its partners are actively contributing to these negotiations through a series of events at SB 64. All events are listed below.
