Global policy, local implementation - impacts of the global compact on refugees

The UN's Global Compact on Refugees agreed upon in 2018 calls for an enhanced local integration of refugees in their countries of destination. Whether and how this works, will to a large part be decided in cities and municipalities of the Global South. This is where a majority of displaced persons are, moreoever area-specific policy interests and aims of loal actors determine modes and degrees of refugees' integration.
