Based on her expertise, she advises decision-makers at national and international level.

Clara Brandi will take up the tenured professorship on 1 September 2022. Brandi's appointment is now the second joint appointment between IDOS and the University of Bonn. The first involved the joint appointment of Professor Hornidge, Director of IDOS, with the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Bonn.

"We are very pleased on the part of IDOS to structurally anchor the cooperation with the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bonn with this joint appointment. It is an important step for the expansion of the cooperation in research, promotion of young researchers and high-level policy advice. The latter is particularly important for dealing with the multidimensional crises of our time and for providing convincing economic policy answers. According to the renowned Shanghai Ranking 2022, economics at the University of Bonn takes top spot in Germany, which makes it a strong partner here," Hornidge said.

"I am very much looking forward to leading the research programme at IDOS while teaching at the University of Bonn and expanding the collaboration between IDOS and the University," said Clara Brandi on the occasion of her appointment. "In doing so, I want to advance research and policy advice that contributes to solving the important global challenges of our time. How can we shape economic policy to strengthen the global common good? How can we promote transnational cooperation in economics and politics to tackle the climate crisis and promote sustainable development? I would like to contribute new research results and impulses to central questions such as these," Brandi continued.

Professor Dr. Jürgen von Hagen, Dean of the University's Faculty of Law and Economics also highlighted the new opportunities from the University's perspective: "The Department of Economics at the University of Bonn is delighted about Ms. Brandi's joint appointment with IDOS. The cooperation between our Department and IDOS holds very great potentials in research, policy advice and training of young academics. With the joint appointment, a first step has been taken to exploit these potentials."
