The "international order as we know it" seems to be changing in various dimensions. While some of these shifts have similar consequences for various countries around the globe, other, more long-term transitions have very different effects on countries and their societies.

For an "updated", successful inter- and transnational cooperation under increasingly difficult conditions, it is crucial to be aware of different perspectives on and weighting of current developments in the international realm. Which topics are prioritised in the political and public discourses on international cooperation of specific countries or regions? Where do we see overlaps, where do priorities diverge, and what are the reasons for that?

In this MGG Network dialogue, we exchange upon the political and public discourses on current transitions of the international order and analyse analogies and gaps. The speakers are members of the MGG Network and experts in the fields of sustainable development and international cooperation. They all live and work in Europe, but have strong affiliations to Brazil, India, and Mexico.

Speakers:

  • Aliasger Bootwalla, formerly Manager for Research, Media and Partnerships at Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations, currently pursuing his Masters in International and Development Studies with a specialisation in Sustainable Trade and Finance at the Geneva Graduate Institute
  • Dolores Brito, affiliated to the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology – Inmetro in Brazil, currently a PhD Researcher in International Development at the University of Sussex with a focus on sustainability in global supply chains
  • Dr Zirahuén Villamar, Researcher at Minor Projektkontor, formerly served in the Mexican diplomatic corps in Berlin
