Job advertisment: Tutor Managing Global Governance (MGG) (f/m/diverse)

The German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) is one of the leading international research institutes in the field of development policy. Through excellent research, policy advice, and training, it contributes to addressing key global challenges.

For the period from 1 September to 30 November 2026, the MGG Academy team is looking for a

Tutor (m/f/d)
(as a student assistant or self-employed under the small business regulation)

to support the Managing Global Governance Academy.

The Managing Global Governance Academy (MGG Academy) is an international, English-language training and dialogue programme. Its training components include an almost three-month on-site phase in Bonn, including study trips to Brussels and Berlin. It is aimed at emerging leaders from rising powers and forms the basis for broad, research-based cooperation with global development partners in implementing the 2030 Agenda.

We are seeking a tutor to support participants (PN) upon their arrival in Bonn and in handling unexpected situations, in particular:

  • Welcoming participants at the train station and accompanying them to their accommodation, including orientation support (e.g. directions to IDOS, grocery shopping, purchasing SIM cards) (11–13 September 2026)
  • Supporting participants during the orientation week (14–20 September 2026), e.g. with registration at the local authorities and opening a bank account
  • Holding a weekly “office hour” at IDOS
  • Providing regular support in everyday matters, e.g. doctor’s visits, administrative procedures, communication with landlords, and organisational issues
  • Acting as a first point of contact for participants in emergencies, particularly in the evenings and on weekends
  • Supporting deregistration and departure (21–23 November 2026)

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Enrolled student or self-employed under the small business regulation
  • Excellent German and English skills (C1–C2)
  • Intercultural competence
  • Very good knowledge of the city of Bonn, including infrastructure (e.g. medical services)
  • Experience in supporting or supervising groups
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good organisational abilities
  • Flexibility in terms of working hours
  • Interest in international relations / development cooperation

Working hours depend on the needs of the MGG Academy participants and will generally take place on weekdays. The hourly wage is €15 for research assistants (Master’s students) and €14 for student assistants.
