English summary: Currency is not a national symbol nor a sovereign decision to be made in isolation from reality. Rather, it is a social contract and a measure of trust between citizens and the state. In the absence of this contract—amid division, destruction, and the collapse of institutions—any attempt to replace the currency will only further complicate the situation. What Syria needs today is not to swap one piece of paper for another, but to rebuild the foundations that give that paper its real value: trust, stability, and fulfillment of obligations. These are the true currencies that must be pursued before any new monetary initiative.
