27.09.2018
On 26-27 September 2018, practitioners and academics met at the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) in Bonn to discuss cutting-edge research on post-conflict peacebuilding and its implications for policy making. The event was an opportunity for practitioners to get acquainted with the newest research on post-conflict processes, but also to exchange with researchers on pressing issues of peace support.
The event began with a keynote by Charles T. Call, author of the book “Why peace fails: the causes and prevention of civil war recurrence”, followed by inputs on domestic drivers of durable post-conflict peace as well as international engagement in this context. More specifically, the workshop brought together researchers and policy makers that work on the role of international and domestic factors within or across the following four thematic areas:
- Political institutions, democracy and governance
- Conflict transformation on the societal level
- Establishing basic security
- Socio-economic development
