From 10 to 21 November 2025, the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) will take place in Belém, Brazil – the first COP hosted in the Amazon region.
Building on the outcomes of the first Global Stocktake, COP30 marks a critical moment for translating global commitments into national implementation and locally just transitions through ambitious nationally determined contributions (NDC).
As a UNFCCC-accredited observer organisation, the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) contributes to international climate policy processes through research on sustainable development and climate governance. IDOS researchers will be present in Belém to conduct their own research, participate in side events, and collaborate with partners to promote evidence-based and socially just climate action.
IDOS will be active in these processes as an observer organisation. We will showcase our research findings at events and analyse progress made on various agenda items of the negotiations.
