Enhancing digital sustainable finance: digital solutions to mobilise capital, assess environmental risks and enhance financial inclusion

Digital finance offers significant opportunities for improving the collection and processing of sustainability-related information and assessing environmental risks and impacts in the financial sector through more effective systems and data- provision mechanisms. At the same time, digital solutions can foster financial inclusion and innovation in the real economy, and reduce the vulnerability to environmental degradation and climate change of low-income households and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In the following, this chapter outlines six policy recommendations for monetary and financial authorities to enhance the digital infrastructure with the aim of enabling digital technologies to address sustainability-related challenges.
