Global Environmental Governance and (Sub-)national Transformation Strategies
The cluster examines developments in global environmental governance and their effects on national and (sub)-national transformation processes.
Central research questions include:
- How are the Rio Conventions and the 2030 Agenda implemented and how do they influence (sub-)national transformation strategies?
- How does the concept of just transitions influence ecological and social change?
- How can governance and financing mechanisms for dealing with adaptation to climate change, loss and damage and human mobility be strengthened?
- What role do national sustainability frameworks play in the implementation of international environmental agreements?
- Which strategies accelerate urban and rural sustainability transitions?
