Ernährungssicherheit und Landwirtschaft für eine Welt ohne Hunger
Immer noch hungern fast 800 Millionen Menschen weltweit, die meisten von ihnen im ländlichen Raum. Zusätzlich leiden weitere zwei Milliarden Menschen an Mangelernährung. Armut und Mangel an Zugang zu Nahrung sind derzeit die Hauptursachen für Ernährungsunsicherheit. Mit der wachsenden Weltbevölkerung und vor dem Hintergrund rasant steigender globaler Einkommen nimmt der Bedarf an Agrarprodukten weiter zu. Die natürlichen Ressourcen geraten weiter unter Druck.
Bei der Umsetzung der globalen 2030 Agenda für nachhaltige Entwicklung und dem Erreichen der nachhaltigen Entwicklungsziele (Sustainable Development Goals – SDGs) spielt daher die Frage, wie Ernährung gesichert und Landwirtschaft nachhaltig gestaltet werden kann, eine zentrale Rolle. Das globale Nachhaltigkeitsziel 2 (SDG-2) fordert bis 2030 den Hunger zu beenden, Ernährungssicherheit und eine bessere Ernährung zu erreichen und die Landwirtschaft nachhaltig zu machen.
In einem vom BMZ finanzierten Forschungs- und Beratungsvorhaben geht das German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) der Frage nach, wie Entwicklungszusammenarbeit (EZ) einen effektiveren Beitrag zur Verbesserung der Ernährungssicherheit im ländlichen Sub-Sahara Afrika (SSA) leisten kann.
